Xero has unveiled a major Workpapers update that strengthens the connection between compliance workflows, client data and accounting applications, creating new considerations for New Zealand developers building Xero integrations.

Published on 15 July, the update introduces tighter data flows between Xero Workpapers, Xero Partner Hub and Xero Tax. Completed workpaper packs can transfer figures directly into company tax returns, reducing manual re-entry. Xero also says upcoming enhancements will include direct PDF report imports, a new GST worksheet, template customisation, clearer review approvals and document drag-and-drop handling.

The company has also announced Xero Workpapers Plus, an optional upgrade aimed at practices managing more complex clients.
